Reporting Illness

Parents/Guardians should contact the school by phone if a student is absent from school. This is to keep the school records up to date as required by the Education Welfare Act. Parents/Guardians should also write a note in their son’s journal upon his return to school to explain the absence to -teachers.

If a student becomes ill during the school day, he should ask permission to go to the office. A member of staff will then contact home. Students are not allowed to phone home themselves. Students cannot go home without a parents/guardians permission and should not leave the school premises without signing out.

We would encourage dental/hospital appointments to be made outside school time if possible. However, if a student must leave for such an appointment, parents/guardians should provide a note in the students journal in advance of the appointment.
