Transition Year Programme: An Evaluation by the Inspectorate of the Department of Education
Since its inception in 1991 with just 17 students, the Transition Year Programme at Coláiste Phádraig has grown steadily. Today, approximately 90 students participate annually, benefitting from a rich and diverse learning experience.

Applying for the Transition Year Programme

All 3rd Year students receive detailed information about the TY programme in February.

Parents are invited to an introductory meeting held in February.

Application forms are issued to interested students and must be returned within one week of the specified date.
Applications are carefully screened by the Management team, TY core group, and Year Head, based on:
If the programme is oversubscribed, a lottery for places will be conducted by the Principal, Programme Coordinator, Chairperson of the Board of Management and/or the Chairperson of the Parents Association. Students will be informed in writing of the outcome.
Students who are offered a place must confirm their acceptance in writing, along with a deposit to secure their position. A waiting list is compiled if necessary, with each student receiving a letter stating their place on the list.
All fees for Transition Year must be paid by the end of May in Third Year.
