Maths Winners

25-Márta-26

Congratulations to our team of four 3 rd yr students, Ayman Ahmed, Anish Kodishala, Rohan Malik, and Ibraheem Abd
Alkhaliq —who have successfully qualified for the National Final of the IMTA Pi Maths Competition. The team secured their
place after an excellent performance at the Regional Round, held in The King’s Hospital on Tuesday.

The Pi Quiz, established in 2009, is a highly regarded competition that brings together teams of four Junior Cycle students to
compete in a table quiz format. The contest consists of eight rounds: six rounds with two questions each, followed by two
further rounds of four questions. Each team works together to solve mathematical problems based on the Junior Cycle Higher
Level Maths syllabus. Regional rounds take place nationwide, with top-performing teams progressing to the National Final.

Our team delivered a superb and consistent performance throughout. They achieved full marks in each of the first six rounds,
showing impressive accuracy and teamwork under pressure. In round seven, they scored 3 out of 4, followed by 2 out of 4 in the
final round, giving them a total of 17 out of 20. This outstanding score secured them clear first place out of 22 competing teams,
finishing two points ahead of the next best teams, who both scored 15 out of 20.

Each member of the team was awarded a trophy in recognition of their achievement. They will now represent the school at the
National Final in the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise on Saturday, 25 th April.

We also commend our other participating teams for their strong performances. Sean Finn Hennessy, Daniel McDevitt, Adam
Wheeler, and Luke Wheeler finished in an impressive 4 th place with a score of 14 out of 20, just one point short of a place in the
tie-break round. Meanwhile, Andrew Cyril, Ahmed Elshabrawy, Orren Power, and Felix Sachin achieved a very respectable joint
9 th place.

We wish our team the very best of luck in the National Final!
